XRAY / MEDICAL IMAGING
Our Radiology Department provides
many services from ultrasounds to MRI. Below is a list of
services that we provide:
Computed Tomography (CT) creates detailed images
of your body's internal organs using x-rays with computer
technology.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses a magnetic
field and radio waves to create cross sectional images of your
head, body, muscles, and blood flow.
Nuclear Medicine uses tiny amounts of radioactive
materials introduced into the patients body to create images of
the body.
Conventional Radiography Radiographs are taken by
radiographic technologists upon order from the attending
physician. They are evaluated by the radiologist to help
the attending physician diagnose and treat the patient.
Digital Fluoroscopy uses a continuous x-ray beam
to create a sequence of images that are projected onto a
monitor. Digital Fluoroscopy frequently makes use of a
contrast agent like barium. These agents provide a white
appearance on the image and as the agent moves through the exam
area, generally an organ, the radiologist is able to track its
path to evaluate the organ as it functions.
Ultrasound uses high frequency sounds waves to
evaluate organs in the body and commonly to examine fetal
development.
Digital Mammography is primarily used for
screening patients for early detection of breast cancer, while
diagnostic mammography follows patients with a suspected or know
breast issue. Digital mammography uses computers and
specially designed digital detectors to produce an image that
can be displayed on a high resolution computer monitor, and
transmitted and stored like computer files.
