Donalsonville Hospital's Southwest Georgia Healthcare Clinic is an up-to-date, family oriented obstetrical and gynecological unit that opened in October 2001.  This new addition to the original hospital provides a unique birthing experience where labor, delivery, post-partum and newborn care are provided by the same unified staff.

The 10,320 square feet Southwest Georgia Healthcare Clinic includes 2 delivery rooms, 6 beautifully decorated postpartum rooms, a C-Section Surgical Room and a well-equipped newborn Nursery.  The L&D Unit, being a very "family-oriented" unit, encourages the "Rooming-In" concept.  However, the Level 1 Nursery provides excellent care for healthy newborns if indicated.  Transfer arrangements to higher level Nurseries are in place if transfers are needed for infants in distress.  Our Medical and Nursing Staff are certified in Neonatal Resuscitation, ACLS, and Fetal Monitoring to insure quality patient care at this facility.

Educational Opportunities

• Lactation Consultants are available to assist mothers with education on breastfeeding techniques.
• Childbirth classes are also offered on a regular basis to assist prospective parents in preparing for the birth experience.
